Roger Federer might be ranked world no.4, but he is still the world no.1 in terms of earnings.
According to Forbes, the Maestro has earned $56.5 million during the last 12 months, while Rafael Nadal earned “only” $44.5 million. This puts Roger as the 7th most paid athletes in the world (Rafa the 9th). The biggest earners are boxer Floyd Mayweather ($105 million) and then Cristiano Ronaldo ($80 million).
Obviously most of the earnings come from sponsors. In fact Roger has earned $4.5million in prize money and $52 in endorsement, while Rafa earned $14.5 million in prize money and $30 million in endorsements.
Novak Djokovic has earned just $33.1 million (poor guy!) of which $12.1 in prize money and $21 million in endorsements.
The highest earner in the WTA circuit? Obviously Maria Sharapova with $24,4 million of which $22 in endorsements. And Serena? she got only $11 million in endorsement.
