Elena Rybakina won her first Wimbledon title after defeating Ons Jabeur in the final on Saturday. This year, the ATP and the WTA decided not to award any point to the players competing in Wimbledon after the slam decided to ban Russian and Belorussian players unilaterally.
Rybakina was among the players damaged by the decision to freeze the rankings. Elena is currently ranked no.23 in the live rankings. She would be no.6 with the Wimbledon 2000 points. Ons Jabeur would become the new world no.2 with the points which are usually allocated to the runner-up.
Here are the live rankings.
So I wasted time and made rankings for if there were normal Wimbledon points! Some theoretical big jumps:
Rybakina (+17) to #6
Halep (+8) to #10
Maria (+69) to #34
Garcia (+17) to #38
Bouzkova (+27) to #39
Niemeier (+37) to #60
Tan (+31) to #84
Watson (+32) to #89 pic.twitter.com/CYghysO6Xz— mason (@mjtennis11) July 9, 2022
