Gerard Pique is doing everything he can in order to make the “New Davis Cup” a success.

Pique is having a hard time to convince the tennis world and the top tennis players to participate to the Davis Cup that next year will take place at the end of the season in Madrid (November). The final format is not 100% clear and many players didn’t hide their displeasure with how things are going.

Roger Federer has already stated many times that he doesn’t intend to participate while Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are pretty dubious.

Why Pique is confident about luring Nadal and Djokovic

During a recent interview, Gerard commented

“I have spoken with all those players. With Rafa it is very positive if he does not have an injury he will be there.

On Novak, if he has to choose between the two he says he will play the ATP tournament. I took the opportunity to talk to him because he represents the players and the meeting was very positive. I am confident we can reach an agreement.”

… and Roger

Piquet commented “Federer is at a point in his career in which he prioritizes the most important tournaments. I have talked with his people and I have not closed any doors.”

That’s a lot to do!
