Simona Halep needs to fix this once for all.
Even if the Romanian was struggling with a herniated disk and she was still willing to compete in Moscow where she was meant to face Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
Health first
However, she had to withdraw at the last moment to release the following statement
“I really wanted to play here in Moscow, but unfortunately my back is still causing me pain and I don’t want to take any unnecessary risks.
While it’s disappointing to withdraw, I know it’s important to put my health first. I’ve had a few wonderful days in Moscow and wish the tournament every success.”
Simona keeps on showing up to tournaments to then either withdraw or lose in the opening match. It may be better for her to stop and find a long-term solution. Unfortunately, surgery might be the best option.
Playing in Singapore might be not feasible or not a good idea. Her world no.1 rank by the season end is assured, so better focus on the future.
