Halle: Federer reaches the final in both singles and doubles

Super Roger Federer!

The Maestro beats Nishikori playing a great tennis to then reach the final also in doubles.

Roger is displaying a remarkable tennis on grass playing “Edberg’s style”. The Swiss goes continuously to the net to put constant pressures on his opponents. The same happened today against a very good Nishikori that showed to everybody that he is a damn good player also on grass courts. The Japanese was completely up to the task to give hard time to the Maestro. But Roger is Roger and stopping him when he is in top form is almost impossible on grass.

Roger won the first set 6-3 after winning the decisive break in the 6th game (4-2). The Swiss managed to break Nishikori in the very first game of the second set to surrender his serve soon after. The duo went straight to the tiebreak with Roger winning 7-4. The end of was fantastic as Roger didn’t understand that he has actually won the match. Everybody was laughing at it!

Federer: I am extremely happy by my tennis

Roger was truly elated about his tennis “I’m very happy that things are going so well for me here this week. I only played a few matches and I’m in the final now. I wasn’t sure whether it’s a good thing to get a walkover in the quarter-finals because I was really lacking matches on grass. Playing against somebody like Nishikori is a big test.

I’m extremely happy with the way I played today. I think I played really aggressive, I served well when I had to and I was able to keep the pressure on Kei and at the end I think I deserved to win. I played a good tie-break as well to get back into it and now I’m in another final here at the Gerry Weber Open. I love this tournament. I’ve won it six times before. So I’m hoping to make it seven.”

The final vs. Falla

Roger will play a surprising Falla in the final. The Colombian is great clay court player, but he is not among the very best on grass. So reaching the final was a big surprise. Head to head is 6-0 for Roger, 4-0 on grass.

To add some more to Roger’s wonderful week, the Maestro has also reached the final in doubles with his long time friend Marco Chiudinelli. The Swiss team will play Begemann and Knowle for the title.

Federer didn’t really get he has won!
