Another day, another victim for Ana Ivanovic.
The Serbian conceded just 4 games in the semifinal against Shuai Zhang playing at her very best. After a slow start (0-2), Ana managed to win 9 consecutive games to lead 6-2 3-0. At that point the Chinese tried to bounce back, but Ivanovic was just too good to win also the second set 6-2. The Serbian finally scored 58 points vs. Zhang’s 36. Match Stats
Ivanovic: It’s a great preparation for Wimbledon
Ana was very happy to have managed to cope with her opponent “On grass it can slip away really fast, so I was a little worried at the start. She’s a great player and I’m sure we’ll see plenty more of her in the future.
I played myself into the match slowly. I could have served better but I also did a lot of things well and didn’t give her many chances, which is important as she’s a dangerous player. I’m just happy to play here. It’s great preparation for Wimbledon and I’m glad to have got so many matches in on the grass.”
The final vs. Zahlavova Strycova
Ana will play world no. 62 Zahlavova Strycova. Head to head is 2-0 for Ivanovic that has never conceded more than 5 games to the Czech.
