Murray’s winning streak on grass ended by Stepanek in London

OK, that wasn’t a good start for the Murray-Mauresmo partnership.

Obviously Amelie couldn’t do much in few days, but Andy shouldn’t have lost this match.

The Scott didn’t lose on grass since Wimbledon 2012 (when Federer defeated him in the final) to win 19 matches in a row.

In the first set after an exchange of breaks in the first and second game, the duo went to a dramatic tiebreak that Stepanek won at 10. In the opening set Murray squandered a mind blowing 8 set points. Losing the opener was huge blow for Andy that imploded in the second set. The world no.5 was broken twice to lose 6-2. Match Stats

Murray: I have to blame myself

Andy was upset for missing the opportunities to clinch the first set “I have only got myself to blame that I lost the first set. I don’t know how many set points I had, but quite a lot of them were on my serve. On this surface especially you shouldn’t really be losing sets like that. For me, that’s what’s disappointing really about the match. Then, unfortunately, got broken in the first game of the second set. I couldn’t quite get it back.”

Next vs. Anderson

Stepanek will play boom boom Anderson in quarters. Head to head is 1-1.
