ATP Halle draw preview. Federer to try to win his 7th title

Roger Federer is already in Halle training on grass. The world no.4 is very focused on the grass season as he really thinks that he can win his 8th title in Wimbledon, but before he needs to defend his title in Halle.

We have a remarkable draw in Halle with Nadal and Federer seeded no.1 and 2. But that’s not all. The tournament has been blessed with the presence of other top 10 players (Raonic and Nishikori) and some other great guys such as Gasquet, Youzhny, Haas and Janowicz.

Nadal

Rafa has a great draw as in order to get to the quarters he should beat either a qualifier or a very approachable wildcard (Brown). Then he might play a struggling Janowicz in the quarters and Raonic in the semis. The big question mark about Rafa is if he is going to play. Last year he withdrew and if he will have a tough final at the French Open he might retire also this year.

Federer

The defending champion will play either the wildcard Struff (an interesting newcomer) or Sousa (a clay court specialist). Then he should have a tough quarter against either Youzhny (last year’s runner up) or the ever dangerous boom boom Karlovic. In the semifinal he might play Nishikori or an unfit Haas.

Here the quarters line-up

Nadal – Janowicz

Raonic – Gasquet

Haas – Nishikori

Federer – Youzhny
