Djokovic beats Gulbis to set up a great final vs Nadal in Paris

Novak Djokovic will play yet another final vs. Nadal.

The Serbian is one step away from winning the only slam he is missing: the French Open. To get there Nole had to win a tricky semifinal against Mad Max Gulbis. The match wasn’t great as both players were struggling with their tennis and in the last 2 sets both had clear fitness problems. After winning the first 2 sets 6-3 6-3, Nole’s physical condition went south to allow Gulbis to clinch the third. The Serbian had to keep his focus in order to avoid the 5th set and eventually he on the decisive break in the 8th game of the 4th set to win the match 6-3 6-3 3-6 6-3.

Eventually Nole won the match scoring 114 points vs. Gulbis’ 102. The Latvian has committed 44 unforced errors. Match Stats.

Nole will play the final vs. Nadal. Head to head is 22-19 for Rafa, but Djokovic has won the last  4 matches. The only prediction we can make is that the final will not end in straight sets. Not much.. isn’t it?
