Mad Max Gulbis dismantles Berydch to play Djokovic in the French Open semifinal

Crazy stuff in Paris!

Ernests Gulbis hammered Tomas Berdych in straight painful sets. The Latvian wasn’t satisfied for having defeated Roger Federer in the previous round and he went for more against the Czech. The match wasn’t even a match with Gulbis being all over the show and Berdych incapable of “counter-playing”. The encounter was sort of  “stress free” for the Latvian that broke Berdych in his first service game in every set.

Eventually the match ended 6-3 6-2 6-4 with Gulbis scoring 91 points vs. Berdych’s 66. Match Stats.

Gulbis: It was my best match of the tournament

The Latvian said “It’s very special. Today was the best match of the tournament. I did everything well.

I felt physically so good. I felt that I can run forever. I felt that he cannot make winners. That’s how I felt on court. I felt that I covered it really well. If I feel so confident from the baseline, then everything just comes together.”

Next vs. Djokovic

Gulbis will play Novak Djokovic in the semifinal. Head to head is 4-1 for the Serbian that his the favorite to get to the final.

This will be Gulbis’ first appearance in a major. It will be interesting to see how is going to cope with it.
