Djokovic beats Raonic to reach the Roland Garros semifinal

Novak Djokovic managed to tame a dangerous Raonic in the Roland Garros quarters.

The Serbian expressed many times his worries about playing the big server from Canada and he knew he had to take advantage of the few opportunities he had in the match.

Once again Nole was almost perfect to break Milos for the first time in the 12th game of the first set to win the opener 7-5. The second set went straight to the tiebreak as both players hold all service games rather comfortably. Once again Nole was the coolest guy on court and he won the breaker at 5. The decider was much easier for Djokovik that broke Milos twice in the first and third game to grab a strong 4-0 lead. The only awkward moment for the world no.2 was when he was broken for the first time when he was serving for the match (5-2). The Serbian didn’t miss his chance a couple of games later to finally win 7-5 7-6(5) 6-4. Match Stats.

From Djokovic

Nole commented “Even though it was a straight set win, few points here and there kind of decided the winner. That’s what I was expecting. I knew that he’s going to serve and I’m not going to have many opportunities, but when I do have them, I should use them. I have done well.”

The semis vs. Gulbis

Djokovic will play Mad Max Gulbis I the semifinal. Head to head is 4-1 for the Serbian that I still the hot favorite to reach the final.
