Denis Shapovalov impresses with a good performance in Tokyo in the 2nd round against Stan Wawrinka.

After losing the 1st set, the 19-year-old from Canada breezed in the 2nd set (6-1) before getting injured to his knee. Interesting enough, Denis maintained his cool even if he had some problems in his movements and he conquered the decisive break in the 7th game of the 3rd set.

A bit of a drama unfolded in the 9th game of the decider when Denis squandered an extremely easy volley on match point while Wawrinka already gave up.

Eventually, the Swiss manage to hold his serve. At that point there were all the elements to assist to a meltdown from the Canadian, but once more the youngster demonstrated his maturity to keep his nerves and win the match 4-6 6-1 6-4.

Denis will face either Chardy or Struff in the 3rd round.
