Roger Federer has surprised the tennis world when he appeared dressed in Uniqlo in his first match in Wimbledon this year.
The Swiss sensation has won 8 times the title on center court at the Championship always dressed in Nike and so the change to the new brand wasn’t a small thing.
Why Federer decided to wear Uniqlo
During a recent interview, Roger explained why Uniqlo’s CEO Tadashi Yanai and Executive Creative Director John Jay had been decisive for his decision.
Federer commented
“John Jay in New York, where I had an event there, said it very nicely: ‘One day I will retire from tennis but I will not retire from life.
Life will go on and Uniqlo and Mr. Yanai believed in me very strongly as being very important to their brand, even though maybe my playing days are going to come to an end at some point.”
Human touch: probably that is what Nike missed out.
A BETTER TREATMENT?
