Bad news, very bad news for Simona Halep.

The world no.1 had a bad experience in China where before starting to play the tournament in Wuhan she got injured to her back while practicing with Petra Kvitova.

Simona is well-known for her “never give up attitude” and she played a full match in Wuhan where she lost to Dominika Cibulkova before trying again in Beijing where she retired while trailing 1-6 against Ons Jabeur

.

Back in Romania, Simona had an MRI and she didn’t receive good news: It’s a disk hernia.

How to recover

It depends on the injury, but usually, the best is to go for a conservative treatment at the beginning that lasts between 4 and 6 weeks. If that is not successful, the only way is to consider surgery.

Why 2018 is probably over for Simona, and why she may go for the surgery

If it takes 4 to 6 weeks to recover, that means that Simona will not be fit for the finals (22nd of October). At that point, taking in consideration the winter break an operation could be the best option in order to avoid to disrupt completely the next season.

It’s a tough one.
