Ranked no.16, Aryna has just won the event in Wuhan after playing fantastic tennis. Aryna has beaten 7 top10 players since June and besides Wuhan, she has also conquered the title in New Haven. Aryna accessed to the 2nd round thanks to a bye that was conceded as she was “busy” playing the final in Wuhan.
Muguruza
Ranked no.15, Garbine is having a rather erratic season. She won the title in Monterrey, she was the runner-up in Doha and the semifinalist at the French Open, but she has also struggled often to win 2 straight matches in the other tournaments. Garbine accessed the second round after beating Makarova 6-0 6-4.

Aryna and Garbine have never played each other so far. If the Belarussian has recovered from last week’s efforts, she is the favorite to reach the 3rd round.
