Bernard Tomic is used to hitting the headlines for the wrong reason often giving the impression that he was playing tennis only for money.
During the recent ATP250 in Chengdu, the Australian projected a completely different image after he won his 4th career title coming straight from the qualifications. To make things even more interesting, Tomic managed to save 5 match points during the entire tournament.
The final
Bernard was opposed to Fabio Fognini in the final. After exchanging the first 2 sets, the incredible happened in the 3rd set tiebreak after Tomic saved 3 consecutive championship points (3-5) of which 2 on Fognini’s serve. That was not over since the Italian had a 4th match point (7-6), but it was Bernard to find the way to win 3 consecutive points and win this incredible final 6-1 3-6 7-6 (7).
The most impressive thing was Bernardβs reaction as the Australian was completely emotional to struggle to hold his tears.
