‘Wimbledon is an exhibition,’ says disappointed Naomi Osaka after losing to Anisimova in Paris

Naomi Osaka may not play in Wimbledon. This is the reason why.

Naomi Osaka

On Monday in Paris, Naomi Osaka had yet another disappointing experience after she lost in the 1st round at the hands of Amanda Anisimova.

Soon after the match, Naomi had an interesting press conference when she said that this year Wimbledon is comparable to an exhibition.

Unfortunately, the Championships decided unilaterally not to allow Russian and Belorussian players to compete in SW19. The ATP and WTA reacted by denying their points to the players who would compete in the British slam.

Will Naomi Osaka play in Wimbledon?

Naomi Osaka said that Wimbledon without points is like an exhibition and she will struggle to find the right motivation. She commented:

“Whenever I think like something is like an exhibition, I just can’t go at it 100%. I’m someone who gets motivated by the idea of rising in the rankings. The intention of this measure was good, but the execution is all over the place.”

Osaka skipped Wimbledon last year after struggling with mental issues and like the other players she didn’t compete in 2020 because of the global pandemic.
