Murray reaches the quarters in Shenzhen after dismissing Goffin in straight set

Andy Murray has a fantastic win in Shenzhen against the seed no.1 David Goffin.

After a rather awkward 1st round (see what happened), Andy had a good run in the second round against David Goffin. The match was extremely smooth for the Brit that had the comfort of a strong early lead in both sets (4-1 and 5-1) before he won the encounter 6-3 6-4.

Andy was particularly happy with his tennis to comment

“I felt like in terms of the way I hit the ball, it was the best I’ve played, and I think I knew that I was going to have to hit the ball very well if I wanted to win.

I love the conditions that we play in. Usually, it’s quite humid, and the courts are a little bit faster than what we usually play on the tour. The conditions that I like are fast courts with slow balls, and with the humidity, that slows the ball down a little bit. I feel like I’m able to control the ball very well here.”

Andy will face either Fernando Verdasco or Taro Daniel in the quarters.
