John wasn’t sure what to expect from the opener to beat Jack Sock 6-4 6-3. The American blasted 8 aces and scored 67 points vs. Sock’s 51. Match Stats
John commented “I didn’t know how I would play coming into the match, as I have tried not to train too much. It was very hard playing Jack, as we are very good friends.”
The American will play Delbonis in the next round.
Gulbis
Ernests had hard time to defeat Klizan 6-7 (4) 6-4 6-1. The Latvian will play Tursunov in the next round. “He is a good friend. I have played with him in doubles many times,” said Ernests Gulbis . “I know him, he knows me. It will be a fun match.”
