Carlos Alcaraz is more and more considered Rafael Nadal’s heir, at least in the heart of the Spanish people. Carlito is ranked number 2 in the year-to-date rankings after conquering the ATP 1000 in Madrid. Alcaraz’s title was astonishing also because he defeated back-to-back Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Sascha Zverev.
During a recent interview in Spain with El Espanol, Carlito admitted that he is missing being a normal teenager. Indeed, the 19-year-old is always recognized when walking on the streets, especially in Spain.
When asked what he has been missing, Alcaraz revealed:
“I would say that right now, anything a boy my age does, go out with his friends, party. Being an ordinary person, in the end, now, in every place I go, people recognize me, they ask me for photos and autographs and I feel a little watched. I miss people not knowing me, being a simple and normal person.”

At the moment ranked no.6 (career-high), Carlos played his last match on the 8th of May when he beat world no.3 Alexander Zverev 6-3 6-1 in the final in Madrid to win his 5th career title.

Now ranked no.4, Rafael played his last match on the 6th of May when he lost to world no.6 Carlos Alcaraz 6-2 1-6 6-3 in the quarter in Madrid (draw).
Currently, during this season Nadal has managed to achieve a compiled 22-2 record. Nadal clinched 3 titles in 2022 in Melbourne, at the Australian Open and in Acapulco. Nadal was the finalist in Indian Wells.
