Naomi Osaka has just reached a back to back final in Tokyo, but eventually her winning streak (10 matches) was halted by a very good Karolina Pliskova (6-4 6-4).
Besides the fact that the Czech fully deserved her title, probably Naomi wasn’t at her very best in the final. In fact, the Japanese, later on, announced that she wasn’t fit to play in China as she was battling with a viral illness.
Vika Azarenka had the same problem as the former no.1 had to withdraw against Camila Giorgi in Tokyo and she pulled out Wuhan as well.
Naomi is stills scheduled to play in Beijing that will take place on the 1st of October.
