Karolina Pliskova interrupts Naomi Osaka’s winning streak after beating the Japanese in straight sets in the final in Tokyo.

Before the final, Osaka won the previous 10 matches after dropping just 1 set on the way. However, the Czech managed to upset Naomi after breaking her once per set. The final score was 6-4 6-4.

This is Pliskova’s 11 career title and the second of 2018 after Stuttgart.

After the match, Karolina commented

“This arena is just amazing, and I’ve had a lot of fun this week. I’ve been coming to Japan for the last few years, and I hope to be back next year, as well.”
