Novak Djokovic had the green light to play the ATP1000 in Rome in May. The world no.1 will challenge Rafael Nadal, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Carlos Alcaraz who are considered among the top favorites to win the prestigious ATP1000 in Rome.
Italian Tennis Federation president Angelo Binaghi confirmed Novak’s presence. Binagghi commented: “The rules regarding players’ participation are established by the government and the ATP.” Therefore, according to the current rules, there should be no issue for the Serbian sensation to compete in Italy even if he is not vaccinated.
Will Djokovic play in Rome?
Even if Novak is already on the entry list, he has recently revealed that he has still to confirm his presence.
“My current plans include Madrid and Rome. “It depends, really, on my results here and the shape I’m in. We’ll decide then,“ said Novak.
