Buphathi to retire after Wimbledon

Time to make a move for Mahesh Buphati.

At 39 year of age it’s time for the double specialist to call it a career.

Mahesh Buphati has just announced to “The Economic Times” that he will officially retire after Wimbledon.

The Indian player has not played much recently to be ranked world no. 56 after playing just 3 tournaments in 2014.

Mahesh: Wilbledon will be my last slam

Buphati commented “Yes. Wimbledon 2014 will be my last slam. To be honest I am already starting to miss professional tennis having played at the highest level for two decades. It is what has given me my identity and I will miss every bit of the action.

The thought that I will not be playing anymore is daunting. I continue to check tennis results daily and will perhaps continue to do so even when I am not playing anymore. It has been an amazing ride and I have absolutely no regrets.

I will be pairing up with Marcin Matkowski at Wimbledon and hope to do well in my last outing at SW19. I am glad that Wimbledon is my last slam. I love the atmosphere and courts of SW19 and it is an addiction, which I will find tough to give up.”

Buphati has won 52 titles and 12 Slams… he can be satisfied by that!
