Stefanos Tsitsipas had a tricky opening match in Barcelona on Wednesday. The Greek sensation was playing against Belarussian tennis player Ilya Ivashka when the rain stopped the action. As per the protocol, the ball kids are expected to hold an umbrella to make the tennis players comfortable.
However, Stefanos “refused” to make the ballgirl hold the umbrella for him. The nice gesture was similar to the one of Novak Djokovic when back in 2014 invited a ballboy to have a seat during the French Open rain.
Tsitsipas match was halted when the Greek was leading 5-1 in the opening set. The encounter will resume on Thursday (1 pm).
