Naomi Osaka is becoming more a more one of the most recognizable athletes in the world after her US Open title.
The world no.7 is back in Japan where is competing in the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo and that has been great for the organization that is experiencing a boom in the attendance.
What is Osaka’s effect
According to Noriyo Arima, the head of public relations for the tournament, Osaka was fantastic for the event to say
“You could say there are more fans than usual because of Osaka. There are a lot of people who play tennis who come every year, but this year there are a lot of people who don’t really play tennis. Since Osaka’s victory [US Open] the phones at our office have been ringing off the hook.
From a media standpoint, there has been an amazing amount of media who want to come and cover the tournament. So, I think it’s had a big impact.”
Naomi is currently in the quarters and you can bet that local fans would be elated to see her winning the all thing.
