It’s not a good moment for Genie Bouchard.
The world no.20 is still struggling to keep up with expectations to lose her 3rd consecutive match crashing out for the 5th time in an opening match.
This time Genie was defeated by veteran Francesca Schiavone (now 34) that took full advantage of the home support and her vast experience to concede just 6 games to the young Canadian.
Bouchard was never in the match to found herself down 5-2 in the opener before losing 6-4. IN the second seet Francesca got a quick 4-0 lead to finally win the match 6-4 6-2 in 1 hour and 28 minutes. Match Stats
Francesca will now play either Garbine Muguruza or fellow Italian Nastassja Burnett in the second round.
Regarding Genie… well … it’s time to be more focussed on the game. Too much buzz around her.
