Djokovic world no.1 the 15th of October?

Novak Djokovic has a clear shot at the top of the rankings as early as October

djokovic world n.1

Novak Djokovic was struggling big time at the beginning of the year when he couldn’t find his best tennis and he had an operation (February). Eventually, after hiring back his coaching team, Nole was back in business and he conquered Wimbledon, Cincinnati, and the US Open.

Nole can achieve the unimaginable early this year: being back to world no.1

How Djokovic become world no.1 in October

The actual leader of the ATP rankings, Rafael Nadal has just announced that he won’t compete during the Asian Swing and he will lose 1,100 because last year he won Beijing (500pts) and he lost in the final in Shanghai (600pts). Therefore, by the 15th of October, Nadal will have 7,660 points (8,760 – 1,100).

Roger Federer has currently 6,900 and he won’t be able to improve that anytime soon as he will compete only Shanghai where he needs to defend his title. So by the 15th of October, he will not have any chances of becoming a world no.1

On the other side, Nole has no points to defend from now till the end of the season since he was out of the competitions during the second half of 2017 because of his injury. Djokovic has now 6,445 points and if he wins Shanghai (1000pts) and he decides to play either the ATP500 in Beijing or Tokyo reaching the final (300pts), the Serbian will be the new world no.1 with 7,745 points (6.445 +300)

Achievable.
