Former world no.1 Dinara Safina officially retires from tennis

The former world no.1 was idle since losing in the second round in Madrid 2011.

In theory her retirement came in October 2011, but that wasn’t official. Now Dinara comes out to say that she is 100% done ”I took as much time as I could,” Safina said.

”I am not this kind of person that I would say no, and then I would think and maybe come back. I was having so much pain in my back, it was tough, everything was hurting me.

Also when you don’t compete your body is different, once you stop your body is in a big shock.”

Dinara has won 12 career titles. Probably her biggest regret was not to be able to win a slam as she has reached the finals in Paris (2008 ad 2009) and in Melbourne (2009).

Good luck to Dinara for the rest of her journey.
