Injured Serena Williams retires from Madrid

Tough luck for Serena Williams.

The world no.1 couldn’t continue her march in Madrid due to an injury to her left thigh. Serena was meant to play Petra Kvitova in the quarter.

Serena: This is very frustrating

The American commented “I have an injury in my left thigh, and unfortunately I’ll have to retire from this year’s Mutua Madrid Open. I suffered it during my first-round match. I started to feel better but it is important that I have enough time to rest and recover.

It’s very frustrating. This isn’t the way I wanted to end the week.”

Pity… unlucky.
