Serena Williams and Kvitova to clash in Madrid quarters

Serena Williams and Petra Kvitova will play a great quarter in Madrid

Serena

After a shaky start when Serena was broken at the very first game at 0, the American won the first set with a smooth 6-2. The Spaniard had a good start also in the second set to lead 2-1, but once again it was Serena to take the upper hand and win 6-2 6-3. Match Stats.

Interesting enough this was the best result that Carla has achieved with Serena as in the previous contests she lost 6-0 6-3, 6-2 6-0 and 6-0 6-0.

Serena commented “I feel like she played really well today. She made me work for every point and it wasn’t an easy win. I think that was her goal today, was to put on a really good show and play really hard and show me what she’s capable of. She’s obviously capable of doing a lot on the court. She just won a title last week, so she’s definitely not an easy player to play.”

Kvitova

Petra had also a good match against her friend and compatriot Lucie Safarova. Kvitova managed to recover from a 0-4 deficit in the first set to finally win 6-4 6-3. Match Stats

Head to head

Serena leads Petra 5-0, this will be their first math on clay courts.
