Nadal named honorary citizen of Madrid

Rafael Nadal is a man under pressure as he starts to have some doubts about his actual competitiveness on the dirt.

By the way, life is still good for the world no.1 that has received the honorary citizenship in Madrid, a city he really loves (he has also won 3 titles and he is a huge fan of the Real Madrid).

Rafa: I feel very close

“It’s a very special day for me and I’m grateful for this honour. I first wish to thank my family, team, friends and everyone that has helped me in my career and that are by my side at all times. I want to share this distinction with the citizens of Madrid. I feel very close to Madrid because I love the city and also because the people here always support me in a big way.”

The award honour was given by Madrid mayor Ana Botella that said the citizenship was given for his “outstanding sporting career and his close and continuing relationship with the city of Madrid through engagement with sports and the promotion of its values”.

Now time to defend his title!
