The 3 moments of Serena Williams’ meltdown at the US Open

Serena Williams’ meltdown at the US Open against Naomi Osaka is something that will stay in the history books.

Serena’s tantrum went through 3 faces.

1st Code Violations – Coaching

Serena had a code violation in the 2nd point of the 2nd game for coaching. Later her coach Patrick Mouratoglou admitted that he was coaching Serena.

2nd Code Violation – Racket smashing

When leading 3-1 in the second set, Serena got mad in the 5th game after she committed 2 double faults and she smashed her racket. At that point, the chair umpire, the respected Albert Ramos, had to give another code violation and Serena lost the point with Osaka starting to serve from 15-0.

3rd Code Violation – The meltdown against the umpire

After Osaka won that game (she was then leading 6-2 4-3), Serena just lost it during the changeover, saying nasty things to the umpire and asking him an apology. After that, Ramos had to follow the rules and Serena was penalized of 1 game. Then everything happened and the American couldn’t hold her tears on court.

Finally, Osaka kept her cool and later she served out the match before winning 6-2 6-4.
