Seed no1. Fabio Fognini and seed no.2 Tommy Haas didn’t suffer much to get to the quarters in Munich.
Fognini
Fabio had to battle only in the first set against “Dreddy” Brown. After winning the breaker, the Italian cruised in the second set to finally win 7-6 (4) 6-2. Match Stats.
Fabio commented “Playing against Dustin is difficult. Sometimes he plays unbelievable, sometimes he gives you points for free. Winning is always good, especially when the match is like this. It was my first match, a lot of pressure, but I’m happy.”
The Italian will play Bellucci in the quarters. Head to head is 1-0 for Fabio.
Haas
Tommy dismissed Falla 6-2 6-4 in just 74 minutes. Match Stats. Haas was happy as he wasn’t struggling with his shoulder injury to comment “I’m pretty happy with the win, obviously having been laid off for a couple of weeks and not knowing how the injury would be. I’m really happy with the way I played. It’s always great to play in front of a full crowd at home in Germany. He’s already won two matches here. He’s very solid, moves well. He’s the kind of player you have to play great tennis against to beat him otherwise you beat yourself. It’s really going to be up to me.”
Tommy will play Andreas Seppi in the quarters. Head to head is 2-1 for the German.
