Incredible stuff in Portugal!
Seed no.2 Genie Bouchard defeats Alisia Kleybanova 6-4 6-1 in 73 minutes, but that wasn’t the juicy part!
At the beginning of the second set Genie had a break point that she converted with an incredible shot while she was on the ground to then win the rally with an inspiring backhand.
Genie commented “That point at the start of the second was crazy: I was on the run and I fell and had pretty much given up on the point. But then I saw the ball come near me and I though just for fun I’d hit it. My shot was kind of weird but I got back in the point and then managed to hit a passing shot.
I’m looking forward to seeing the video of that and I’m sure I’ll have a good laugh!”
