The Russian player was upset by Gael Monfils in Indian Wells, missing the opportunity to overtake Novak Djokovic in the live rankings. After this week, Djokovic will be back to occupy the world no.1 place in the rankings. Djokovic will not compete in Miami next week. Therefore, Medvedev will have yet another opportunity to become again the world no.1

Novak Djokovic in 2022
Currently ranked no.2, Djokovic played his last match on the 24th of February when he lost to world no.74 Jiri Vesely 6-4 7-6(4) in the quarter in Dubai (draw).
This season Djokovic achieved a composed 2-1 record.
Daniil Medvedev in 2022
Currently the world no.1, Daniil played his last match on the 14th of March when he lost to world no.28 Gael Monfils 4-6 6-3 6-1 in the 3rd round in Indian Wells (draw).
At the moment, during this season Medvedev achieved a composed 13-4 record. Daniil Medvedev’s most significant result of this year was reaching the final at the Australian Open.
Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev squared off 10 times. Their actual record is 6-4 for Djokovic. Previously, the last time they locked horns, Novak Djokovic won 4-6 6-3 6-3 in the final in Paris (Rolex Paris Masters) in November 2021.
