Novak Djokovic had a fantastic day in New York for 2 reasons: first he won his match against Sousa in straight comfortable sets; second, he won’t play Roger Federer in the quarters after the Swiss was upset by the world no.55 John Millman!
The match vs. Sousa
Nole was in complete control of his 4th round against Joao Sousa. After winning the first set rather comfortably 6-3 (2 breaks), Nole lost his serve unexpectedly in the 3rd game of the second set. That was the only “awkward” moment for the former world no.1 that won 6 of the following 8 games to conquer a substantial 6-3 6-4 1-0 lead. Time for Nole to break Sousa again in the 8th game (5-3 and at love) and the Serbian won the contest 6-3 6-4 6-3.
I am pleased with my game. DJOKOVIC
Soon after the match, Nole commented
“I felt like in the first couple rounds, I was still struggling a little bit with the level. I wasn’t that consistent. Then last match against Gasquet, and also today, was pretty good. So I’m really pleased with where my game is at at the moment. Getting into quarter-finals, ready to perform well.”

The quarters vs. Millman
Nole will face Federer’s conqueror John Millman in the quarters. The head to head is 1-0 for Djokovic that defeated Millman in their only match this year at the Queens 6-2 6-1. The Australian will go for better!
