The Bulgarian had to dig dip in the tiebreak of the opening set to recover a 2-5 deficit to win the breaker 7-5.

Grigor commented “It’s never easy when you play someone for the first time. He’s a player I’ve been observing in the past couple of months so I knew what to expect. He’s a big guy, great serve and he gave me a really hard first set. I had to come up with some really good shots. I’m happy that I finished in two sets. It was a good first match for me.”
