Rafael Nadal has started his 2022 in the best possible way after winning already 3 tournaments. Following his recent success in Acapulco, after winning the finals, Rafael Nadal explained why he was very confident to have a good run in Indian Wells. Nadal commented:
“It has been essential not to lose a set throughout the tournament. I had two quick matches in the opening rounds, which also helped. Now I have two weeks to prepare for Indian Wells.”
No Djokovic, but…
Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas will be Rafael Nadal’s most significant obstacles in the desert. Novak Djokovic is still on the entry list. However, since the Serbian champion is still not vaccinated, he cannot enter US territory.
Rafael Nadal tournament in Indian Wells on 3 occasions: 2007, 2009, and 2013. He did not play in 2020 and 2021.

Now ranked no.4, Rafael played his last match on the 26th of February when he defeated world no.12 Cameron Norrie 6-4 6-4 in the final in Acapulco to win his 91st career title.
At the moment, during this season Rafael has managed to achieve a compiled 15-0 match record. The Spaniard clinched 3 titles in 2022 in Melbourne, at the Australian Open and in Acapulco.
Daniil Medvedev in 2022
Ranked no.1, Daniil played his last match on the 25th of February when he was overcome by world no.4 Rafael Nadal 6-3 6-3 in the semifinal in Acapulco (draw).
This season Daniil has managed to achieve a compiled 12-3 record. Daniil Medvedev’s best performance of the year was getting to the final at the Australian Open.

At the moment ranked no.3 (career-high), Alexander played his last match on the 5th of March when he overcame world no.114 Thiago Moura Monteiro 6-1 7-5 in the Rubber 4 of the Davis Cup (draw).

Stefanos Tsitsipas in 2022
Ranked no.5, Tsitsipas played his last match on the 25th of February when he was overcome by world no.12 Cameron Norrie 6-4 6-4 in the semifinal in Acapulco (draw).
This year Stefanos has a 14-5 record. Stefanos Tsitsipas’s best accomplishment of the current season was getting to the final in Rotterdam.
Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas played each other 9 times. The head to head is 6-3 for Tsitsipas. Before, the last time they fought against each other, Alexander Zverev won 6-4 3-6 7-6(4) in the semifinal in Cincinnati (Western & Southern Open) in August 2021.
