Rafael Nadal is confirmed to play the upcoming ATP500 in Barcelona, where he has won the title already 12 times! It was David Ferrer to confirm the participation of the King of Clay to comment: “Having Rafa in Barcelona is very exciting for the tournament and the expectation will be high to know how far he can go.”
Will Daniil Medvedev and Novak Djokovic join Nadal?
The tournament may have a stellar line-up. In fact, the newly crowned world no.1 Daniil Medvedev has already played in Barcelona back in 2019 where he reached the final.
Novak Djokovic is not used to playing in Barcelona. However, the Serbian legend stated that he will try to play the tournament where he is allowed to participate because he is not vaccinated. Novak is used to training in Spain (Marbella) and he may therefore try to play the ATP500 in Barcelona.
The event will be staged from the 18th of April.
Rafael Nadal in 2022
Currently ranked no.4, the Spaniard played his last match on the 26th of February when he defeated world no.12 Cameron Norrie 6-4 6-4 in the final in Acapulco to win his 91st career title.
Currently, during this year Nadal owns an overall 15-0 win-loss record. Rafael conquered 3 titles in 2022 in Melbourne, at the Australian Open and in Acapulco.
Daniil Medvedev in 2022
Currently the world no.1, Medvedev played his last match on the 25th of February when he capitulated to world no.4 Rafael Nadal 6-3 6-3 in the semifinal in Acapulco (draw).
During this season Daniil achieved a composed 12-3 record. Daniil Medvedev’s most significant result of this year was reaching the final at the Australian Open.
Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev faced off 6 times. Their current record is 5-1 for Nadal. Before, the last time they fought against each other, Rafael Nadal won 6-3 6-3 in the semifinal in Acapulco (Abierto Mexicano Telcel) on the 25th of February 2022.

Novak Djokovic in 2022
Currently ranked no.2, the Serbian played his last match on the 24th of February when he lost to world no.74 Jiri Vesely 6-4 7-6(4) in the quarter in Dubai (draw).
