What a surprise in Monte-Carlo!

David Ferrer reverses a lousy 1-17 record against Rafael Nadal (on clay) to defeat the world no.1 7-6 (1) 6-4. David was always on top of the game to win an incredible tiebreak at 1 (not usual for Rafa).

The Mallorcan had a lousy start in the second set to be 2-5 in no time. Then David got tight to surrender a service game and lead (only) 5-4. Ferrer managed to “relax” to hold serve and win the match.

Ferrer defeats Nadal on clay only 10 years ago in their very first match agasint each other.

The semis vs. Warinka

David will play Stanislas Wawrinka in the semifinal. Head to head is 7-5 for Ferrer , 5-2 on clay.
