Stefanos Tsitsipas wins in the US Open 1st round after an extremely solid performance against Tommy Robredo that even if was is currently ranked no. 214, he was still a former world no.5.
The match
The Greek sensation started the contest in the best possible way after he gained a 3-0 lead that was enough to win the opener 6-3.
The second set was much more even. Actually, it was Robredo to easily win his service games while Stefanos was battling almost every time he had to hold serve. The world no.15 had to save 2 consecutive set points when he was 4-5 15-40, but eventually, he was rock solid in the following breaker when he conceded just 1 point. (7-6)
Stefanos was finally broken in the 1st game of the third set, but he then found the opportunity to break Robredo in the 4th (2-2) and in the last game (6-4) to win the match 6-3 7-6 (1) 6-4. The match ended after 2 hours and 33 minutes.

Next vs. Daniil Medvedev
Stefanos will face Daniil Medvedev in the second round. The head to head is 1-0 for the Russian that defeated Tsitsipas in a heated match in the Miami 1st round.
