Today was a great day for “Garcias” (Garcia-Lopez won in Casablanca) and for Frenchwomen (Cornet won in Katowice). Of course this weird feat was possible as Caroline Garcia from France won her maiden title in Bogota.
Caroline had the difficult task to beat world no. 9 and defending champion Jelena Jankovic and she did it in style. In fact it took just 82 minutes for Garcia to win the final 6-3 6-4.
At the end of the match a delightful Jankovic said that she was fine. In fact, last year she has won the title and this year the trophy is just a bit smaller.
