Taylor Fritz was among the tennis players who were extremely sad when learning that Juan Martin del Potro decided to retire from professional tennis. The former world number 3 has been one of the most feared tennis players in the world, but he had to cope with countless injuries.
Juan Martin del Potro had to endure 4 knee operations only in the last 4 years. Before he had 4 more surgeries to repair his right and left wrist.
After his last injury at the Queen’s Club (2019), the Argentine champion worked hard to stage a proper comeback. Unfortunately, the pain in his knee was just too much. Therefore, the Tower of Tandil decided to play his last tournament in Buenos Aires. Delpo was so emotional during his last match against Delbonis, that before serving to stay in the match, he burst into tears for 2 minutes.

After defeating Jack Sock in his opening match in Dallas on Wednesday, during the on-court interview, Taylor Fritz talked about how sad he was for del Potro to retire from professional tennis.
The American player commented:
“He was my favorite player growing up. Always admired his sportsmanship and how big he hit his forehand. I wanted to play like him. It’s sad to see him retire.”
