Juan Martin Del Potro calls it a (great) career in Buenos Aires after playing his last tournament on Tuesday. The former US Open champion managed to win 22 titles in his career despite being plagued with all sorts of injuries. It’s even difficult to count the surgeries that Delpo had to sustain after being injured to both wrists and his knee. At 33, Juan Martin tried to stage yet another comeback after almost 3 years that he was out from competitions following his knee injury at the Queen’s Club against Shapovalov back in 2019.

Eventually, the knee didn’t allow him to be back to competitions, and he decided to play his last tournament in Buenos Aires. His first-round match against Federico Delbonis made a full house. Juan Martin was far from his form. Juan Martin could not hold his tears when he served for the last time in his professional career on a 1-6 3-5 scoreline.

All the best to Juan Martin, it was fantastic watching the “gentle giant” storming the tennis court all over the world.
