WTA Rankings: Bencic climbs 49 places! Cepelova at career high

We had an interesting week with the tournaments in Charleston and Monterrey

Bencic

Probably Belinda’s story is the nicest of the week. The 17 years-old from Switzerland reached the semifinal in Monterrey to lose only in the tiebreak of the decider at 7!  Belinda proved to be able to trade shots with the very best of the business to beat Maria Kirilenko and world no.11 Sara Errani in her road to the semis.

Belinda has gained 49 places to be ranked world no.91. She will definitely a be a top10 player… at least.

Cepelova

The young Slovakian had a great tournament in Charleston to upset the great Serena in the second round and to reach an incredible final. Jana has now reached a career high no.51.

Petkovic

Andrea is back from a series of injuries to win the title in Charleston playing one of the best tennis of her career. This win allowed the German to be ranked world no. 28 (+12 places).

The biggest loser

This week this “title” belongs to Stephanie Voegele that has lost 22 places. This happened as the Swiss crashed out in Charleston opener while last year she has reached the semifinal.
