Andrea raised a couple of eyebrows when she defeated Dominguez-Lino 6-0 6-0 in the 2nd round and then she trashed also the Wimbledon runner-up Sabine Lisicki 6-1 6-0 in the following round. Andrea played also an exceptional tennis against a really good Genie Bouchard in the semifinal.

In the final Andrea was always in control. In the first set she grabbed a 3-0 lead to then win the opener 7-5. The second set was a walk in the park with Andrea getting a 5-0 lead before winning 6-2. Match Stats

From Petkovic

Andrea had an interesting point about winning the first set “When I was down facing set point, I just told myself, ‘You gotta let loose and you gotta relax a little bit because otherwise you’re not going to win this match. And so I relaxed, and I started hitting the ball harder and deeper, and I started moving better, and I started serving better.

“That’s just how it is sometimes. You just relax and all of a sudden things come together.”
