Juan Martin Del Potro will finally be back to competitions next week in Buenos Aires only on the occasion of the Argentina Open. The 2009 US Open champion has been extremely unlucky in his career after undergoing surgeries to both his wrists before having multiple knee operations.
Now 33, Juan Martin played his last match in 2019 when he got injured when playing at the Queen’s Club in London.
Juan Martin released the following statement:
“It will be very special to come back to the tour in Buenos Aires and play in Rio, too. I have worked a lot and made all the effort to be with you in the next few weeks.
Rio de Janeiro has a special place in my heart and I look forward to being with you and to play in the Rio Open for the first time.”

Currently ranked no.757, the Argentine played his last match on the 19th of June 2019 when he defeated world no.12 Denis Shapovalov 7-5 6-4 in the 1st round in Fever-Tree Championships (draw).
