Dominic Thiem was eager to stage his comeback in Cordoba this happen, but that will not happen. The 2020 US Open champion got injured last year in Mallorca in June to his right wrist. Dominic decided not to have a wrist operation to go through rehabilitation and take a prolonged stop from the tour. Thiem skipped the Australian Open and he was ready to compete again this week on the occasion of the Cordoba Open.

Unfortunately, he was stopped by yet another injury. The good news is that his wrist is fine. Currently ranked at number 37, Dominic Thiem is still expected to play next week in Buenos Aires.

This was his statement:

“Very sorry but I have to announce that I am going to pull out of ATP in Cordoba in the last days. Suffered a minor injury between my knuckles, little strain of my ligaments. Positive thing there is, wrist is perfectly fine. But, I am suffering pain in my hand. Also, lacking of practice. So, I have to pull out. I am very sad. I am going to come back once I’m 100% fit.”
