As widely forecasted, Switzerland gets to the semi-final, but that wasn’t easy at all.
The European team was the mega-hot-favourite against Kazakhstan, but a shaky Wawrinka made everything rather complicated.
Stan lost his first single against world no.64 Golubev, to then lose also the doubles with Roger. Federer had an easy win in his first match. The Swiss team was 1-2 own till the third day.
In his second match Stan had another shaky start against Kukushkin to lose the first set, but fortunately the world no.3 found his way to win his second single 6-7 (4) 6-4 6-4 6-4.
In the decisive match, Roger was in “Maestro Mode” to beat a really good Golubev 7-6 (0) 6-2 6-3.

Roger commented “It’s great. I was hoping so much I was going to get a chance to play and not just watch Stan pla. I got the opportunity and I’m happy I lived up to the hype and the expectations, and I was able to get the boys through so very happy for them.”
Next vs. Italy
Switzerland will play in the semi-final Italy that has defeated Great Britain 3-2. Everything can happen.
